I hope this thread helps others having problems! It's very disorienting that they don't show you keyboard controls on screen as you play, so I had the controls open on my phone (as I'm unfamiliar with the x-box controller). The thing is when you see the 'CLOSE' button on the message, try clicking 'M' on the keyboard and it will eventually work (you may need to do the 'delete the SYSTEMDATA folder and run the game' trick a few times). This initially didn't work for me, but eventually did. Another poster on here pointed out that the game ties x-box controls to U, I, O, J, K, L, N, and M on the keyboard, where M is the button to select, and L is the back button. Here's what happened: I kept trying to delete the SYSTEMDATA folder (found in Documents per my original post here), emptying trash, and running the game for an hour and a half. I've heard a lot about KT being a bunch of so-and-so's and always thought 'well it can't be that bad.', guess I was wrong I'd appreciate any help anyone could give, but at this stage I might just write it off as a bad cause. When I Alt-TAB out of it to a windowed folder I see the game pop up a message on the bottom saying I've disconnected my controller, so it seems to be at least somewhat responsive, even if it won't let me click on the 'Close' button on the error pop-up and I have to force quit the game every time. I don't know if it's normal or not but FYI I don't hear any music or SFX. Naturally, when I press any button, I get: "Failed to load data. So to recap, I get past the KT and Team Ninja loading screens, and I see the Press any Button screen. So if this game just completely broken? Or incredibly temperamental? I mean sure I'm running it on an i5-6600K and a GTX 960 with 16GB RAM, not the best specs (waiting on that 3080 to build something worthwhile and watching my hairs grey in the interim), but you'd hope it would at least get past the 'Press any button' screen? Oh, and I tried turning it off and on again (my computer) - still no luck. I verified the file integrity through Steam and doublechecked that I had the right number of files and the right size of game data (I do), I tried running it from Steam and directly from Program Files for all the good that won't do, I tried running it in Windows 8 compatibility mode (Windows' suggestion, not mine), I checked to make sure that it was allowed internet access through the Windows firewall (it was, I unchecked it and checked it again to be on the safe side), Unchecking Controlled Folder Access under Ransomware Protection (I initially didn't even have this on, so I turned it on and whitelisted the game just to see if it would make a difference, when it didn't I turned it back off), Deleting the SYSTEMDATA folder from the Documents>KoeiTecmo > DEADORALIVE6 > path, I've tried all the tricks I can see online and I've tried anything I can think of. I just bought the game today, the first fighting game I've ever actually bought lol, and it won't even run.
